As the author of my own Blog I do have some freedom as to what I write – in my opinion. However, this blog is mostly dedicated to integrating NLP into my own daily life …and this is where the two collide.

Last week I was without a vehicle because my little green car broke down. After trying over and over, I finally accepted my inability to fix it and took the car to my local mechanic; Jimmy Eddie Repairs, here in Victoria, BC, Canada – they ROCK! (yes, it’s a shameless plug – but it’s true!). Jimmy went through the vehicle and soon concluded that the battery was dead, and after trying to charge it for a whole day discovered that it wouldn’t take a charge anymore.

This might not be a big deal except this battery was less than a year old. I bought it from a local Canadian Tire Store (the 3rd one in three years – a new one each year!). The first time in 2005 I threw out my receipt so there was no warranty …I was out of luck in 2006 – so I bought a new one. In 2007 the warranty was only a few weeks past expiration so …I was out of luck and had to buy a new one. This time however, I paid for the extra extended warranty (2 years this time).

So, when I took the MotoMaster Battery back to my local Canadian Tire Store did I get the “no questions asked, straight across exchange” which I was promised with my extended warranty? No …I was out of luck. Their “computer mechanic” said that the battery was still good and would be charged in 24 hours. Hmmmm…what luck that “thier” computer would say that.

And this is where my NLP training came in …specifically, state control. In my youth, I would have been so livid and angry I would have started screaming and swearing and freaking out. Instead, after exploring all the NLP language patterns I could use in the moment – I admitted defeat …they ripped me off …AGAIN! So, did I get down on myself for being “stupid” and buying from the deceitful, dishonest people at Canadian Tire 3 years in a row? No …I was smarter than that. I found my center, balanced my mind, spoke calmly, clearly and professionally and told them in a very dignified way that they could take my old car battery and shove it …into their recycling place.

Now, for the best part… Jimmy, my mechanic, sold me a brand new battery $20 cheaper than the so called, “Low Price Guaranteed” MotoMaster Battery! Plus, I know Jimmy will back up what he sells me – he always has! That’s real manifestation in action my friend!

So, my little rant will end like this …using NLP to stay sane in the face of criminal intentions of people and businesses in this day and age is very beneficial. Less stress, less worry, better manifestation, plus – my car works again! Hoo-ray! (No thanks to the treacherous and fraudulent company policies and procedures of Canadian Tire and MotoMaster!)
