 OMFG! I just finished watching a TV show that a friend taped for me that used NLP in the storyline … and wow, I don’t think they could have made us look any worse.
I’ve been proud to be a part of the field of NLP since I started a decade ago and I’ve known thousands of people who have been helped by NLP coaches and counselors — and yet, TV can take a few small pieces and put together a story casting my chosen career into the pile with serial killers and super-villians. My only question is: do people really believe that cr@p?
(For those of you who can’t tell I’m extremely angry! — *Grrrr*)
As an NLPer I’m taught to accept that other people have a right to their own model of the world, and to respect their beliefs if they work for that person as long (as they’re not hurting anyone) … but, right now … that is really tough to do. At this point in time, in my model of the world I picture the writers of that show … well, let’s just say I don’t imagine them in a very nice way.
 Oh well … I’m told that I need to learn how to take these kinds of things in stride. They say that there are “internet trolls” and “social media douchebags” who’s sole purpose is to go around insulting other people and what they do. The risk is that the more famous you become the more you need to learn how to accept critical feedback from people like that who just want to bring you down, politely thank them for their opinion, and then chalk the experience up to ‘just one more idiot’ and toss the experience behind you …
… and so, to all the people who really believe NLP is a cult, a scam or evil — thank you for your consideration, and please consider yourself tossed.
 Boo-ya!
